Hillary Castillo (‘01), director of finance & operations for HPS’ Department of Disability & Addiction Rehabilitation, and her partner, Kenneth Williamson (LINKS Construction), competed against nine other couples at the United Way’s 2017 United TRIBUTE event Jan. 21. Other dance contest participants from UNT included Landon Ellison (’10, ’15) – associate director, undergraduate outreach & recruitment.

Castillo and Williamson were nominated to participate in the contest and spent 2-3 hours per week for 3 months choreographing and practicing their dances to Boogie Oogie Oogie and September.

Through real-time crowd voting, Castillo and Williamson clinched the second place prize.

“It was such an honor and privilege to represent UNT at this event.” said Castillo. “I was able to help raise money for the community that I love as well as make great new friends!”

Castillo has a history of volunteer service to the local community. She has volunteered with United Way since 2005 and served on the Special Events Committee for 6 years. She served as the Staff Co-Chair for UNT’s SECC campaign from 2006 – 2008 and also served on the SECC Local Employee Committee for Denton County from 2010-2012 and 2016.
