"Conducting a built environment analysis on a potential park site for a multi-family community that does not have a park has been a true honor for me to help start my planning career. To me this is what urban development is all about, to actively and collectively seek areas such as this to continually improve the quality of life of residents. Therefore, leading a team through the mentorship and guidance of the experienced staff at our UPOP program has been without a doubt a truly valuable experience."
“I am so fortunate to be able to have hands-on opportunities through UNT and the City of Lewisville that gives me real world planning experience rather than just learning from a textbook or slideshow, especially in a year as unpredictable as this one.”
"The UPP program at UNT has not only provided me with critical knowledge about the history, lessons, and future of city planning - but has also given me the technical skills necessary to actively create, promote, and advocate for equitable policy and design for our public places"
"I am honored to be serving as the Emergency Management Planner for The Town of Chapel Hill, NC. This position is unique as it takes an integrated and coordinated approach across emergency management and urban planning to address gaps in town mitigation and resiliency. My role is currently assisting in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic and staying alert to any hurricane activity.
The experience and knowledge I have gained during my short time in the Nonprofit Leadership Studies Program has been remarkable. Each of the program’s dedicated professors provide students with the resources and encouragement needed to immediately begin serving the community. The opportunities I have been given to work with local nonprofits while in classes, in the form of volunteer work and service-learning projects, has not only inspired me to get involved in the community, but it has given me the skills and connections to do so.
