Meet your Career Advisor

My name is Gena Kirkwood and I am currently a Career Advisor in the Career Center at the University North Texas in Denton, TX. I have earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Human Services and am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). I hold a current Special Service Provider License (School Counselor 0-21) through the Colorado Department of Education. I am also a member of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the Colorado Counseling Association (CCA), and now the National Career Development Association (NCDA).

After spending seven years as a Guidance Counselor serving K-8 students in Eagle County School District in Eagle, CO, I remembered what my passion had been when I was in the process of obtaining my degree: advising students about their future, their careers, and guiding them to the resources to realize their life goals. The University of North Texas has given me the opportunity to do just that, as well as expand my professional skills and qualifications, advance my career, and grow personally.
