Jennifer Evans-Cowley, a UNT alumna with more than a decade of experience in higher education leadership, has been named the new provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of North Texas.
She will have a faculty appointment in HPS’ Public Administration department. Evans-Cowley earned a master of public administration from UNT’s MPA program, which is ranked first in Texas and 13th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
Evans-Cowley will also have a courtesy faculty appointment in HPS’ Emergency Management and Disaster Science department, which houses the nation’s first bachelor’s degree program in emergency management. Following Hurricane Katrina, Evans-Cowley spent eight years working with communities on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in planning for resiliency as they rebuilt.
