Schafer receives highly competitive Teacher-Scholar Award

Erin Schafer, Ph.D., an associate professor of audiology in HPS’ Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Department, was selected to receive the highly competitive 2017 UNT Office of Research and Innovation’s Teacher-Scholar Award, one of the prestigious annual Research and Creativity Awards (RCA). This award goes to a mid-career faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in research or creative productivity while also performing in an extraordinary manner as a teacher.

“I am honored and inspired to receive the Teacher-Scholar Award given that it acknowledges my efforts in the areas that I love most about my job,” said Schafer. “This award reflects the efforts of many people, including my students, collaborators and research participants whose commitment and contributions are immeasurable and will continue to motivate my work at UNT.”

It includes a monetary award and the bestowing of the award at the Salute to Faculty Excellence Dinner and Ceremony this fall. Schafer will also present a brief, general overview of her work at a ceremony honoring all the RCA award recipients along with other honorees including this year’s selections for Distinguished Research Professor.
