Fall 2019 Speaker Series- Family Systems with Kelly Sevin

During our education to become helping professionals, we learn a lot about helping our future clients. But how do we also help the family? Kelly Sevin, will share her academic, personal, and professional experiences working with families of those who are in treatment for co-occurring and substance use disorders.

Kelly Sevin, program director for Healing Springs Ranch, oversees day-to-day operations, clinical staff as well as provides individual and family therapy to clients. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator. Kelly facilitates a weekly therapy group: The Daring Way™.  She helped develop and co-facilitates the monthly family intensive program and has experience in working with clients who struggle with trauma, shame, anxiety, and depression, addiction, dissociation, abuse and personality disorders.  She has assisted individuals with marriage and family therapy, women’s issues and sexuality.  She is passionate about shame resilience, healing families, and healing trauma.  She is currently trained in Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), The Trauma Model and The Daring Way™.

Kelly received her Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University in Austin, Texas and her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Sex Therapy from Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  She has worked in residential treatment for substance abuse, eating disorders and mental health for over 7 years. She has spoken to many colleges and Graduate programs on the topic of addictions and trauma in Texas and Tennessee.  Also, she previously held a routine spot on local TV to educate her community about addictions, eating disorders and mental health since 2012.

Kelly was born and raised in Texas and after 8 years out of state, she is happy to be back home in Texas.  She enjoys reading, running, driving her jeep, cooking and spending time with her friends, family, and her sweet dog, Andie (a female Andie).
