UNT offers many valuable resources to help students prepare for their future careers, interviewing and internships. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these resources when they’re enrolled at UNT.

UNT Career Center
The University of North Texas has a center that can help with your career needs such as:
  • Providing information about job listings, employer information, and internship opportunities
  • Supporting with resume and cover letter writing
  • Preparing effectively for interviews
  • Finding hands-on experience related to you major
UNT Learning Center
The University of North Texas has a learning center that offers workshops on:
  • Speed Reading
  • Study Skills
  • Time Management
 

Internships

The Criminal Justice Department has a large internship program that spreads from local agencies in the DFW area to nationally. Students may qualify for courses that will provide academic credit and may be taken more than once.

Students may intern at some of the following:

  • Parole, police or probation departments
  • Federal law enforcement organizations
  • Jails or prisons
  • Juvenile detention centers
  • Law firms
  • Alcohol or drug treatment programs

Alpha Phi Sigma

Alpha Phi Sigma

Alpha Phi Sigma is the National Criminal Justice Honor Society. In order to join, undergraduate students must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA on all their college work and 3.2 CJUS course GPA with at least 4 completed CJUS courses. Graduate students must have a 3.4 cumulative GPA and a 3.4 GPA in their CJUS courses, with at least 4 completed CJUS courses.

Criminal Justice Student Association

The mission of the Criminal Justice Student Association is to bring students together that are pursuing a career in the Criminal Justice system to help expand our professional network and knowledge. In order to join, you must be in good standing with the university and attend at least 50% of all meetings.
