Dr. Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration. He teaches courses in urban and regional planning, land use, and transportation planning. His research program investigates how transportation infrastructure and land-use systems affect travel behavior. At the core of his work is the vision of creating communities and cities that promote sustainable and equitable transportation. To achieve this, Dr. Rahman’s work focuses on strategies to reduce automobile travel, promote active modes of walking and cycling, public transit, and design multimodal urban transportation systems. A Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Rahman earned his Ph.D. in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master’s degree in Transportation Science from the University of California, Irvine. He serves as an editorial board member for two leading journals– PLOS One and Transportation Planning and Technology.
