About

Dr. Evans is a licensed master social worker with a background that includes working with youth at risk in Oklahoma and Texas high schools, alternative high schools, and middle schools. In those spaces, her interventions focused on providing students with mentorship, opportunities for cultivating socio-emotional awareness, life coaching, and professional development.

Dr. Evans has taught learners at the BSW and MSW level in online and in-person settings for courses across the curriculum. She is an expert in course development, and her course instruction spans research methods, policy, child welfare, violence in families, LGBTQ topics, HBSE, program evaluations, diversity, macro social work, field seminar, and introduction to social work.

Primary Research Interests: 

Dr. Evans research interest includes a qualitative focus on narratives that relate to LGBTQIA2S topics as it relates to identities, intersectionality, and coming out experiences. Additionally, her work highlights mindfulness and self-care practices for social work students with a strength’s perspective.
