About Our Program

The program is designed to provide a broad foundation in health care delivery systems; management strategies; ethical and legal issues in the healthcare environment; the role of Information systems and technology in high quality and efficient care delivery; marketing health services; and in the principles of sound financial management. The program is comprised of 39 credit hours or 13 courses that encompasses health services administration. 

Employment in health services management is expected to grow by 32 percent in the coming decade. Health Services Administration graduates can find opportunities in numerous fields. These include: hospital administration, consulting, health policy, health information systems, maternal and child care, long-term care, pharmaceuticals, and project management. This degree can also be a valuable asset for mid-career professionals looking to move up within a traditional health care system.

While the program offers many of the courses in-person the program is also delivered entirely online. Students completing the program entirely online will find a high level of interaction with faculty and your classmates. We have found this emphasis on networking to be crucial for an improved exchange of ideas and to help our students explore areas that interest them most.

Mission

The mission of the Masters in Health Services Administration is to provide our diverse group of early career professionals with a graduate education that will further their careers as health care leaders and innovators. The MHSA program prepares students to successfully deal with numerous challenges confronting healthcare organizations and leaders in a future characterized by changing economic incentives and interdependent relationships between healthcare providers, payers, and purchasers. After completing the program graduate are prepared to advance their careers or seek employment in entry level or mid-level management jobs in a variety of healthcare organizations including hospitals, health systems, ambulatory care facilities, home health providers, hospices, pharmaceutical firms, and other healthcare related organizations. The MHSA program consists of four highly qualified diverse core faculty members and a variety of adjunct faculty members who teach, do research and provide service with regard to their roles.
