Welcome to the Department of Public Administration
The department's eleven faculty, two professional staff, an internship coordinator, and three practitioners-in-residence provide the strong academic and intentionally practical education that results in meaningful career paths for undergraduates interested in degrees in urban policy and planning or nonprofit leadership studies.
Graduate students can pursue an MPA in the #7 ranked program in local government management or a PhD program in public administration and management. We also offer certificate programs in volunteer management and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
We are excited to announce the creation of an endowed fund for a professorship to honor George R. Schrader, the 10th city manager of Dallas (from 1972 to 1981), a pioneer for modern city management and a staunch champion for the councilāmanager form of government. Learn more about the George R. Schrader Professor of Practice in Local Government Management.
