Master of Social Work (MSW) Admission Paths
Two types of students will be admitted to the Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The first group are graduates of undergraduate programs in fields other than social work and they will complete the 60-hour Traditional Degree Program. The second group of students are graduates of BSW programs who qualify for the Advanced Standing Degree Program. For these students, the first 30 hours of the MSW is waived, and they will complete the program in one year (30 credit hours).
Field Practicum Requirements
In addition to conventional coursework, students on the Traditional Degree Plan complete two full-time field practicum placements. Students on the Advanced Standing Degree Plan complete one full-time practicum placement. Field practicum requires approximately 30-35 hours per week in an agency setting. Each practicum will be in one semester, face to face, and during regular business hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.).
