HPS IT Services

HPS IT provides technical support for faculty and staff in the College of Health and Public Service (HPS) and the Center for Learning Enhancement, Assessment, and Redesign (CLEAR).

Supported computers must meet the following criteria:

  • Dell Desktop and Notebook Computers Under 6 Years Old
  • Apple desktop and Notebook Computers Under 6 Years Old
  • UNT Property Number or Dell Service Tag Number
  • Purchased with UNT Funds.

Hours

Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Closed during UNT holidays and inclement weather.

Please note, the HPS IT staff no longer work on faculty, staff and student personal computers.  This applies to work in our tech office and paid work on personal time. HPS IT tech staff will continue to assist faculty and staff with configuration of email and other Office 365 applications on personal devices.

ICP / Teams Integration

Am I required or expected to install Teams on a personal device?

Microsoft Teams is installed on university devices as part of the ICP implementation. You can install the Microsoft Teams application on your personal devices at your discretion. Installation is not required or expected.

Where can I find training opportunities?

What additional hardware will I need?
Microsoft Teams works with many different devices. If you participate in any current web conferencing, you probably already have everything you need. Basic headphones or earbuds with a built-in microphone are a good starting option. Your local IT support can provide hardware recommendations.
How can I disinfect my phone or headset?
Polycom provides guidance on cleaning your device to meet Center for Disease Control recommendations without damaging the equipment. Please refer to this comprehensive guide to locate specific instructions for your device.

Remote Access


VPN Setup for Mac & PC

To access UNT network resources that are restricted to on-campus connections, you'll need to install and use the Cisco VPN AnyConnect client. This process involves visiting a designated website, downloading the installer, and setting up the VPN on your Mac or PC. Once installed, the AnyConnect client will allow you to securely connect to UNT’s VPN from any location.

OneDrive & Office 365


If you're running Office or Windows, OneDrive may already be built-in, but if you need to install it, this guide will help you download and set up OneDrive on your computer. It also explains the differences between OneDrive cloud and local storage, and provides tips for syncing your files. For additional help, you can access online training resources or contact IT support.


OneDrive is online storage accessible from anywhere, offering UNT students and staff up to 1 TB of free space. Easily store, sync, and share files across devices. You can:

  • Drag and drop files into your OneDrive folder on your computer
  • Upload via the OneDrive app on your phone
  • or Use the OneDrive website

Collaborate seamlessly on documents with colleagues using Office Online, ensuring everyone can edit the same file without emailing copies. Download OneDrive apps to access your files from any device.

Steps to Accessing OneDrive for Mac Users

Mac users can use OneDrive though webmail.unt.edu.

  1. Open Microsoft Document Connection. It is an application that comes with Office 2011.
  2. Click on Add location -> and then Connect to a Sharepoint Site. (Your URL will be "https://myunt-mysharepoint.com/personal/firstname_lastname_unt_edu/Documents".)
  3. Note the hyphen, dots, and underscores in the URL. If it is typed correctly, an Office 365 login screen will appear.
  4. Enter your email address firstname.lastname@unt.edu and you will be redirected to the webmail login screen.
  5. Enter your password and sign in.

This will create a SharePoint location to your OneDrive.

Clutter is enabled for all UNT faculty and staff in Office 365. It may be disabled using the Webmail tools. Follow these steps:

  1. Login into https://webmail.unt.edu 
  2. Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner. 
  3. Select Options, then select Clutter 
  4. Select Don’t separate items identified as clutter 
  5. Click Save
