Community Health Worker Certificate Program

  • Location: This program will be housed at the UNT Health Science Center.
  • Format: Delivered online, the course is a blend of synchronous and self-paced learning.
  • Duration: Spanning 16 weeks, participants are expected to commit 5 hours weekly.
  • Stipend: Students enrolled in this program receive a stipend of $4,000.

This certificate program equips students with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to become proficient CHWs.

 

Substance Use Disorder Competencies for Community Health Workers

  • Location: University of North Texas Canvas Learning Management System (Online) 
  • Format: The course is asynchronous and self-paced. 
  • Duration: 4 months (to be completed alongside CHW Certificate Program) 

This comprehensive course is designed specifically for community health workers engaged in the challenging field of substance use disorders, aiming to deepen their understanding and enhance their practical skills. Participants will gain advanced knowledge and tools to address substance use disorders more effectively within their communities. 

Following completion, interested students will have the opportunity to participate in an apprenticeship in which they can gain work experience while continuing to learn how to work effectively in the field of substance use treatment.
